Conversations that Matter with VJ: The Story of Time

What is time? We measure it constantly, organize our lives around it, and feel it passing but explaining what time actually is remains one of humanity’s deepest challenges.
In this fascinating and accessible talk, we will trace the story of time from the movements of the Sun, Moon, and stars to the invention of clocks and calendars. We will explore Newton’s idea of universal time, Einstein’s discovery that time can speed up or slow down, and the mysterious “arrow of time” that carries us from the past toward the future.
Along the way, we will consider why time seems to move faster as we grow older, whether the universe had a beginning, and whether time itself is a fundamental part of reality or something that emerges from deeper laws of nature.
No scientific or mathematical background is required, only curiosity about one of the greatest mysteries of existence.
Speaker: Dr. Varghese "VJ" John is a teacher, coach, and speaker dedicated to helping people think more clearly, learn more deeply, and perform at their highest level. His work spans mathematics, physics, technology, and leadership, where he designs learning experiences that cultivate curiosity, rigor, and confidence.
With a background as a physicist and technologist, VJ has developed creative solutions to complex scientific challenges and led sophisticated technology initiatives for leading financial institutions. Today, he brings that same analytical precision and thoughtful innovation to education - helping learners move beyond memorization toward genuine understanding.
